3/4 cup butter flavored shortening
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup Molasses (dark or regular)
1 egg
2 cups gluten free flour mix
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
1/2 tsp. ground ginger
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
granulated sugar in a small bowl for coating the cookie balls


Melt shortening and allow to cool. Add sugar, molasses and egg and beat well. Sift together flour, baking soda, cloves, ginger, cinnamon and salt...add to the first mixture. Mix well, chill. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Form chilled dough into 1" balls and roll in granulated sugar. Place each ball on greased cookie sheets 2" apart and bake 8-10 minutes.
